Here's Samantha enjoying the crib mobile at age 40 days. Notice how much Samantha has grown since I took the first series of photos of her visually tracking the mobile at age 10 days (refer here for Mobile Mania, Part I).
While the American Academy of Pediatrics has advocated for babies to sleep on their backs (the campaign "Back to Sleep" has reduced SIDS incidence by 40%), "tummy time" is also recommended to prevent skull deformities and also increase upper body strength (refer here).
Here's Samantha playing in her "Gym" and enjoying it (most of the time).
Samantha was about 1 month old when we took her for a visit to Ninang Tricia and Uncle Mike Dugan's totally hip apartment in Chelsea. The baby felt at home instantly --- we changed diapers six times on the Dugan bed! Thanks Mike and Tricia!
Cute pictures with big smiles are great but the reality is that babies cry a lot. Here is a series showing Samantha letting it all out. We swear the entire building could hear her!
Samantha was 18 days old when these photos were taken. She usually cries when we give her a bath but once she's towel-dried she would give this very satisfied look (like she just came from a spa). Lucky kid.
More childhood reminscing this time culled from Sesame Street back in the day. So nod your head and tap your feet to the catchy little tune. The visual display would make Jerry Garcia proud!
Samantha is 16 days old, and a follow-up visit to the doctor's office showed her gaining just the right amount of weight over the last week. Karen's determination to breastfeed has paid off! Mommy and baby are finally getting in-sync with breastfeeding and we cannot be happier.
NOVEMBER 12 - Karen's birthday came 11 days after Samantha was born. She hasn't had a full night's sleep for 2 weeks and the household was still in disarray. And though everything revolves around dear Samantha, she is, quite honestly, the best gift that Karen can ever receive.
We had a small gathering of family and friends and that was all we needed for now. Samantha was having fun with the bouncy chair that day....
